Levels of Involvement
The creation, development and success, of our community is determined by its members' harmonious compatibility, high degree of integrity and commitment to common visions of a future living and working together. Our community is composed of a diverse group of people with varied skills and experiences, focused on working together towards creative progress and change. Our combined efforts create a valuable tool and resource for the larger community.
While creating our working model in California, we realize that sister communities forming may need assistance with development. These sister communities will be similar models of sustainable development, music, artist's retreat, gardens and multi-media services, allowing participants to learn about being responsible community members at any of the other locations or at more than one.
Here is a brief description of the levels of involvement that are foreseen. Many of us may fit into more than one category of involvement.
Caretakers/Stewards/Members work in one or more community-based businesses and contribute funds monthly to the upkeep of the facility. These members will also be resident caretakers of the property, will meet and make decisions concerning the use of the land and business. These members will have invested in building their own homes on the property, but are entitled to sell their share back to the community if they choose to move.
Investors/Sponsers are members that make significant contributions to the start-up of the community. These members are interested in the success and longevity of the community as a place for retreat and creativity.
Associate Partners are members with skills essential to the process of setting up and managing a sustainable facility. They are interested in exploring community living without the commitment of building/buying their own home on the property. They will live and work on the property at different times of the year in a group housing space or camp. They might also make arrangements to sublet or rent from an existing member.
Advisory Board is composed of members who offer their expertise and services, holding workshops or teaching seminars, while building their own portfolio of work and exploring the possibility of further involvement.
Volunteers/Interns are persons interested in learning from one or more of the services offered by Tierra Sagrada, who donate time and energy in exchange for learning, and use of the facilities. They hold no ownership rights to the property or the facility
